- Don't discuss business outside of your known acquaintances or in public places.<br />

-  Take time to learn about metadata.  This refers to how information is  tracked on cellphones and websites.  You may think you have turned  location features off, when there are additional ones you are not aware  of.   This is the case with many of the new phones.<br />

- Stay alert  during the holidays protect your credit/debit cards and identity. Check  your credit scores either through a credit monitoring service or a free  credit monitoring site, like creditkarma.com.<br />

- Purchase gifts  cards for online shopping versus posting your account billing  information. Ensure shopping sites begin with https:// The 's means it  has security features.<br />

Bottom line, be safe online. Use  common sense. Assume everything posted on the Internet will be there  forever and it can ultimately be traced back to your computer, phone or  other device.</p>
